Superbly
located at the end of a private lane just two miles above Hebden
Bridge, Allswell Farm Cottages enjoy stunning, panoramic views over the
Calder valley, across to the ancient village of Heptonstall and out to
the Stoodley Pike Monument.
The pretty villages of Old Town and
Pecket Well are each within a mile and have two excellent pubs serving
home cooked food, Old Town Post Office also sells household supplies as
well as newspapers etc...
The main cities of Leeds,
Manchester and Bradford are within a forty five minute drive and the
trains from Hebden Bridge can also take you directly to Blackpool,
Scarborough, York, Leeds, Manchester and the airport. Manchester
airport is just over an hours drive
Cottages
The
farmhouse and cottages date back to the 17th c. and are even recorded
in the doomsday book! Boasting a wealth of original features both
cottages have been renovated to a high standard whilst preserving their
country cottage character.
Each cottage has two double bedrooms
and feature original beams, stone walls, mullion windows and a each
cottage has its own private garden with patio furniture where you can
sit and absorb the peaceful and breathtaking scenery.
Beautifully
furnished and decorated you are assured of a comfortable visit, each
cottage has a newly fitted kitchen with microwave, fridge/freezer and
washer/dryer, and the comfortable lounges have a TV and DVD/CD player.
Activities
With
direct access onto the Calderdale way which links to many miles of
footpaths and bridleways the cottages are superbly located for walkers,
cyclists and horse riders to enjoy the natural splendours of the
Calderdale moorland countryside.
Walkers are well catered for -
Hebden Bridge is one of the first towns in the country to declare
itself a ‘walker friendly town’! Within the square kilometre between
our farm and the Hare & Hounds pub at Old Town are more footpaths
than on any other square kilometre on the ordnance survey map in the
U.K!
Horse riding is available and experienced riders can enjoy
the splendid scenery from horseback. Facilities are also available for
you to bring your own horse.
Cyclists can bring their own bikes
or hire them from the local specialist cycling shop. There are miles of
bridleways on the doorstep for mountain bikers.
Golfers can enjoy the testing Mount Skip Golf Course. Only two miles away the club is friendly and visitors are welcome
Boating,
Sailing, Kayaking, Skiing, Mountain Boarding, Bowls, Ballooning and a
host of other activities are available locally or within half an hours

Hebden Bridge
A
busy town recently voted ‘best in Britain’ for its independent shops,
and also voted ‘one of the quirkiest towns in the world’ for its
individuality
There are many cafes and a wide variety of
excellent restaurants and pubs serving good food. There are live music
venues, art and craft galleries, an original cinema , the canal and
visitor centre, canal boat trips, live theatre and a host of clubs and
societies make this town a hive of activity and entertainment. Taxis
are available to bring you back to the cottages!
Sightseeing
Less
than two miles away is the picturesque Hardcastle Craggs owned by the
National Trust, this beautiful woodland also features streams and
waterfalls and is where the Victorians would take their Sunday stroll!
Haworth,
home of the Bronte sisters is fifteen minutes drive, and there is a
regular steam train running from Oxenhope (ten minutes drive) through
to Haworth and on to Keighley
